Heads of Central Asian states may gather in autumn in Tashkent

The second consultative meeting of the heads of the states of Central Asia can be held in Tashkent in the fall, reports the Foreign Ministry of Uzbekistan on Saturday, July 21. The first such meeting was held in March 2018 in Astana (now Nur-Sultan). The second summit of the Central Asian presidents was planned for this spring in Tashkent, but was postponed indefinitely. And now this topic has surfaced in Washington on the presentation of the investment potential and prospects for the development of the capital market in Uzbekistan for the US business community. In particular, the meeting discussed issues of cooperation between Uzbekistan and its neighbors in the region. And Tashkent, as an example, cited plans for a second consultative meeting of the heads of Central Asian states in the fall of this year. President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov took the initiative to hold meetings of the heads of state of the region on a regular basis. During the talks with Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev in Tashkent last April, the Turkmen president concretized this initiative. The Turkmen leader suggested calling such a high-level negotiation format a Consultative Council of Heads of Central Asian States, seeing it as an advisory body, whose meetings could be held on an agreed agenda alternately in each of the capitals of the region.
