Tajikistan completes construction of the first tunnel of the gas pipeline Central Asia-China


In Tajikistan the construction of the first tunnel within the framework of laying of the 4th line of the gas pipeline Central Asia-China is completed, as Asia Plus News Portal informs citing first deputy head of JSC "Tadzhiktransgaz" Shavkat Shoimzada.
According to him, the construction of the Tajik section of the gas pipeline will be carried out at three phases and at present, the first phase of the project is implemented and within that several tunnels are expected to be laid.
«The laying of the first tunnel with a length of 1560 meters is being completed. Until present constructors have covered 1450 meters», - Shoimzada said.
He pointed out that during the second half of the current year the construction of other four tunnels are planned to start. And in whole, the Tajik section of the gas pipeline «Central Asia-China» is designated to be completed in 2024.
The new 4th line of the gas pipeline «Central Asia- China» has a long length of 966 kilometres and will pass through the five countries. The gas main line starts in Turkmenistan, then will pass through Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan and reach China. The Line-D will enable it to increase in the overall pipeline throughput as much as 85 billion cubic meters of gas a year. 65 billion cubic meters of this quantity should be delivered to the Chinese market from Turkmenistan.
The intergovernmental agreement on construction of a new line of the gas pipeline in the territory of Tajikistan was signed in September, 2013. In March, 2014 the agreement between CNPC and JSC "Tadzhiktransgaz" was signed and on its basis Trans-Tajik Gas Pipeline Company Ltd, joint enterprise for construction sand exploitation of the gas pipeline with shareholding of US 300 million dollars of the sides was establishehe route Turkmenistan–Uzbekistan- Kazakhstan –China. At the request of Bishkek and Dushanbe, the Line-D will pass through the territory of Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan as the transit of the gas pipeline is very profitable enterprise for all sides.
In addition to direct delivery of natural gas to the country, it will facilitate attraction of investment and create new job places. It is not without reason that president of Kyrgyzstan Sooronbay Jeenbekov stated necessity of intensification of the construction of the gas pipeline from Turkmenistan to China at the meeting with overseas institutions of the country in March, the current year.
