Turkmen Sambo wrestlers won silver and two bronzes at the Commonwealth Sports Festival
In Ulyanovsk (Russian Federation), on the I Festival of CIS national sports and games, Turkmen athletes participated in competition in Sambo. Of the team of five, three representatives of our country have received awards. Silver medal in the weight category 68 kg was won by the coach of the second district complex sports school of Abadan city of Ashgabat, Niyazmyrat Shahmyradov and two bronze medals were received by Kemal Amanov (62 kg), currently going through military service, and Nurali Yalkabov of Dostluk village of Lebap welayat (100 kg). It should be noted that in Sambo competitions many world and European champions were represented at the Festival, so that the Turkmen sportsmen met with the strongest contenders, and the struggle was sharp and entertaining. In general, the program of the Festival of National Sports and Games of the CIS countries, which had participation of about 350 representatives of 9 Commonwealth countries, includes competitions in seven sports. Sambo is included in the program of the 5th Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games, which will be held in Ashgabat in a month.
