Records of the 5th Asian Games - how dreams come true
Summing up the results of the Ashgabat 2017 Games, we can not fail to mention the records that were set by their participants. In total, the 5th Asian Games beat 37 records, including 11 records of Oceania, 1 of Asian region and 1 world record. The world record, which held for 18 years, was beaten by Iranian weightlifter Sokhrab Moradi (94 kg), on the sum of two attempts to lift the weight of 413 kilograms - 185 in a snatch and 228 in a jerk. As the athlete admits, he tried to beat the record at the Olympics in Rio, for which he worked hard for almost 24 hours for four years. Despite winning the gold medal, he was able to become a record-holder only at the Ashgabat Games 2017. The record of the Asian region was beaten by the women's swimming team from Hong Kong, which swam the combined 4x50 relay in 1 minute 48 seconds, surpassing the representatives of China and Thailand. As athletes admit, their victory was ensured by a well-coordinated team work, thanks to which any dreams can come true.
