Ashgabat City - a new mega-project in the Turkmen capital

Today, President Berdimuhamedov was presented an architectural design for the construction of a high-rise residential complex that will rise in the very north of Ashgabat.
The presentation was prepared by the metropolitan mayor's office, where today they met the head of state and members of the government of Turkmenistan. The story of this was shown in the evening news release of the information program “Vatan” of Turkmen television.
According to the general plan of building a new district of Ashgabat, the territory of the massif will occupy 744 hectares. Here, for the first time in Turkmenistan, they plan to raise the high-rise buildings up to 35 floors, using the most effective practices in the field of earthquake-resistant construction.
There will also be a pair of 12-storey houses customary for the Turkmen capital, but in combination with a higher block of the general structure. In total, about two hundred residential buildings will provide 17.8 thousand comfortable apartments to new settlers. All the necessary social infrastructure is attached to it - kindergartens, schools, medical and cultural institutions, shopping, sports and leisure centers, etc. etc.
Reports on the development of this project, its draft versions with impressive “skyscrapers” already flashed in the TV news and newspapers, magazines of the country, and for some external similarities with some foreign urban planning concepts, it was quickly dubbed as Ashgabat City.
Indeed, it resembles some well-known “city” projects that have already been successfully implemented abroad. The only difference is that there, for the most part, were business centers, offices, exhibition halls, clubs.
And the main “filling” of Ashgabat City is housing. The project itself is aimed at improving the living conditions of citizens, the opportunity for numerous young families who have added in numbers to move to a more spacious and comfortable apartment.
The population of Ashgabat is growing, and this process promises to be active in the foreseeable future. So you need a lot of housing. Requests of citizens also grow in need of a lot of good, modern housing. And the Ashgabat City project was the answer to this predictable request.
And a few more shots about how it will look approximately, through the eyes of architects, who shared their “vision” with ORIENT:
