The G20 energy ministers at the meeting in Argentina adopted a communiqué stating that the role of natural gas as an environmentally friendly fuel will continue to grow in the future. The document says that gas will play a key role in the process of reducing harmful emissions into the atmosphere and switching to renewable energy sources. "We recognize that natural gas plays a key role in energy supply in many countries of the G20, and we recognize the serious potential for expanding its use in the coming decades, this will help to switch to energy sources with lower emissions of harmful substances," the communique stresses. Also, the heads of the energy departments of the G20 noted that their countries are aimed at improving the functioning of the gas market, increasing its transparency and competitiveness. This also concerns the production of liquefied gas and the construction of terminals for its storage on a global level. To date, petroleum products (gasoline, kerosene, diesel fuel, etc.), although more common in the world, are gradually beginning to yield in the old dispute with natural gas. The main disadvantage of petroleum products is that they are more harmful to the environment. In addition, they are more expensive in extraction, processing and use. For example, let's take one of the most important areas of application of liquid fuels - road transport. Natural gas as an automobile fuel is much cheaper and more environmentally friendly than petroleum products. In exhausts of the car working on "blue fuel", harmful substances are 5 times less in comparison with the car with the gasoline engine. And this is very important, because transport is the main polluter of the atmosphere, especially in large cities. It can be assumed, with a high degree of probability, that in the future ecology and economy will contribute to "domination" in the world natural gas energy. But even this "domination" will last exactly until the time when humanity has invented something more ecological and economical.
