Turkmen fish products for export
In January-May 2018, domestic enterprises produced 832 tons of canned fish products in Turkmenistan, which is 23.4 percent more than in the same period last year.
According to the State Committee of Turkmenistan, the growth of increase in efficiency began already in April, when during first four months 727 tons of canned goods were procured in the country. It is 17.6 percent more than in January-April 2017.
The first three months of 2018, the growth rate of production was moderate – 2.6 percent in January, 8.3 percent in February and 4.5 percent in March. It is due the fact that the catch of fish in winter is decreasing. Consequently, we can expect an even larger increase in production in summer.
In period of January-March this year, there were about 135 tons of canned fish stocks in Turkmenistan, which obviously indicates the oversaturation of the domestic market. In April, this indicator fell by 28 percent when Khazar Balyk Public Corporfation – one of the largest producers of fish products in the country, exported first 22 tons of the product to Tajikistan.
Thus, the planned increase in production has strengthened the export potential of Turkmen producers of canned fish, which can serve as a signal for potential buyers from abroad.
