A.Lebzyak: Turkmen boxers have good prospects
Turkmenistan's boxing team, led by the famous Russian coach Alexander Lebzyak, has entered an active phase of preparations for the World Cup, which will be held in Hamburg from August 22 to September 3.
A.Lebzyak considers the upcoming world championship as one of the important stages of his program of preparation of the Turkmen team for the XXXII Olympics (Tokyo, 2020).
Alexander Lebzyak officially started training in Ashgabat from May 1 this year. Less than two weeks later, the Russian coach tested the national team of Turkmenistan. First in Baku at the Islamic Games, and in 2.5 months - in Minsk at the tournament of the memory of Hero of the Soviet Union Viktor Liventsev.
And if the wards of Alexander Borisovich returned from Azerbaijan with three awards - a gold, silver and bronze medal, then from Belarus - also with three, but two of them were gold.
In addition, one of the Turkmen boxers won a bronze medal at the Asian Championships in Tashkent.
Thus, in three months of working with the Russian coach, Turkmen boxers won seven medals at international tournaments.
The beginning is not bad, and there are prospects, given that Alexandre Lebzyak and his new trainees are in reserve three years before the start of the Summer Olympic Games in Tokyo.
After the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, where A. Lebziak led the Russian boxing team, the Russian coach received proposals from Canada, Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan. However, Alexander Borisovich stopped his choice on the Turkmen team.
A.Lebzyak is an Honored Master of Sports, Olympic Champion, World and European Champion. Within several years he has twice headed the coaching staff of the Russian boxing team.
