Cycling Day in Turkmenistan
Another Cycling Day will be held in Turkmenistan on August 17. The event that focuses the attention of the society to environment and healthy life-style is to mark the 30-day countdown to the V Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games.
The first cycling day took place in the country to mark the 50-day countdown to the V Asian Games on July 29.
Public transport and bicycles traffic will be allowed in Ashgabat on Thursday, August 17, starting from 7 a.m. till 7 p.m.
The Turkmen Melon Day – a national holiday that is annually celebrated in the country on the second Sunday of August is also moved to August 17.
The Asian Games in Ashgabat will be the largest international sports competitions that the Turkmen capital will host, and the unprecedented AIMAG competitions. For the first time the programme of the games includes 21 sports, and the number of participants has increased from 45 teams of the National Olympic Committees of Asia to 64 teams, including the island states of Oceania and the 65th national team of refugees.
The ideas of peace, friendship and health are laid in the conceptual basis of the 2017-Ashgabat Games. Sport in this triad acts as a unifying, energetically and emotionally saturated force, the spiritual strength, the aspiration for the victory and consolidation.
