UNHCR thanks Turkmenistan for the refugees' participation in the V Asian Games
UNHCR Regional Representative for Central Asia Yasuko Oda expressed gratitude to the Government of Turkmenistan for the participation of refugees in the V Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games. During the meeting at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, the UNHCR Regional Representative for Central Asia emphasized the unique character of this event. Yasuko Oda focused on the opportunity for the refugees from Kenya to take part in the prestigious competitions. In the framework of the meeting, the UNHCR Regional Representative for Central Asia also noted that Turkmenistan has achieved success in solving problems of refugees and persons without citizenship. 65 teams – 46 teams from Asia, 18 teams from Oceania and the team of refugees will participate in the V Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games to be held in Ashgabat in September.
