Private sector of Turkmenistan: in Numbers and Figures
The development of the private sector and strengthening of its role in the economy is one of the key tasks of Turkmenistan's economic strategy. The private sector and targeted development of public-private partnerships are the basis of the economy of any developed country.
Today, in Turkmenistan, the entrepreneurship is represented by a number of medium and small enterprises that successfully operate in such sectors as construction, food industry, agriculture, tourism, services, electronic industry, textiles, furniture production.
In short, the business community in Turkmenistan is setting up output of every consumer good for the needs of population. Moreover, private companies construct houses, schools, kindergartens and other social infrastructure.
The private sector in Turkmenistan shares 62.2% of GDP.
The Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs is actively promoting the development of private business in the country. This public organization was established in 2008. Over 150,000 jobs have been created in private enterprises and various business areas.
As of December 1, 2016, 1676 legal entities were registered in the Unified State Register of Legal Entities of Turkmenistan, of which 1502 are private enterprises.
As of 1 July 2017, 26,395 legal entities were registered in the Statistical Register of Business Entities, and 18,544 of them (or 70.3%) were registered as private property or 2.5 % up as compared with corresponding date of 2016.
