Alekper Ahmedov, the member of the Ashgabat Alp Club “Agama”, once again ascended to the top of Mount Elbrus in the Russian Federation. For him, these ascensions have become a good tradition. He already was at the highest mountain of Europe in the spring of 2017, 2016 and 2015. Our mountain climber started the ascent at 4,200 meters, from the end of the rock ridge above the “Priyut 11” (Refuge of the 11), at five o’clock in the morning. Repeatedly traveled route was well known. The rocks of Pastukhov, the Kosaya polka, the saddle between the peaks were left behind. He was lucky with the weather that day: sunny, gentle wind. Surprisingly, at the top, the wind died down almost, that is unusual for such heights. Five and a half hours after the start of the ascent, at 10:30 am, Alekper Ahmedov ascended to Elbrus. From an altitude of 5,642 meters, a beautiful surrounding and beautiful peaks of the Caucasian ridge, was viewed. By the way, Alekper could have risen this spring to Elbrus twice, as he had already done several times. The first ascent on April 27 was acclimatization on the eve of the International Festival Red Fox Elbrus Race 2018. However, that day the weather was bad due to which the organizers excluded the summit from the route of the race. By the way, this fact did not stop Alekper from taking second place in the age group of “50+”. The summit of Elbrus became a place of attraction for the Turkmen mountaineers. This year, the entrepreneur Mele Bekmuradov also reached the summit. In 2017, a group of climbers from the Lebap velayat ascended it. In 2016, Karen Bortyakov and Anton Reshetnyak from Ashgabat, and, in autumn of 2015, Yevgeny Yarygin climbed Mount Elbrus.
