The TAPI gas pipeline project continues to pick up speed in accordance with the schedules and plans to launch the first Turkmen natural gas supplies to South Asia in 2019. The topic of TAPI was widely considered during the IX International Gas Congress, wrapped up yesterday in Turkmen Avaza. In the near future, Turkmenistan plans to secure all the necessary funding to complete the construction of the gas pipeline, which will stretch from the huge Turkmen field Galkynysh towards Afghanistan, Pakistan and India. The statement came from forum Chairman of the Board of Directors of the company "TAPI Pipeline Company Limited" Muhammetmurad Amanov. "We expect the financing to be completed in the third quarter, within the next three-four months," Reuters quoted him as saying. According to official, the company is in talks with several export credit agencies. Among them - SACE (Italy), Hermes (France), as well as the export credit insurer of ECIO (Greece). Meanwhile, according to the news agency APP, the Pakistani authorities in 2018-2019 are aimed at signing agreements on gas transportation and transit fees, approving the pipeline service rules and completing Front End Engineering Design (FEED) activities. In addition, Pakistan has begun the process of procurement of pipes for the pipeline and appointment of Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) contractor. Inter State Gas Systems (Pvt) Limited (ISGSL), which is responsible for the execution of the project in Pakistan, expressed confidence that the pipeline coming from Turkmenistan will significantly replenish Pakistan's energy reserves with low-cost, reliable and environmentally friendly energy, as well as help to achieve socio-economic progress in the region. Stressing the importance of the project, the sources noted that the gas pipeline will have a positive impact on increasing the capacity of electricity production to meet the future energy needs of the country, as well as create great opportunities for employment in economically backward areas along the route.
