White city, green strategy: Ashgabat in update mode

The Day of Ashgabat is celebrated not only with concerts, but also with a large exhibition that represent the different aspects of the life of Turkmen capital: from architecture to ecology.
How Ashgabat lives today, what are the plans for future and development mechanisms? All this is represented by numerous expositions of dozens of departments and organizations, private enterprises and partner companies from Europe and Asia.
Like the huge bright showcase of the city, the Expo Center of the Trade and Industrial Chamber of Turkmenistan shows the best that there is in the capital arrangement: infrastructure solutions and all kinds of equipment, building materials and technologies, as well as many other things that make people’s lives more comfortable, safer and more interesting.
From the abundance of stands and exhibits, as from a mosaic, there is the image of a city, which is dynamic, energetic, open and hospitable, youthfully ambitious, and at the same time businesslike. Architects and designers pay special attention to the preservation of the style of buildings that formed in Ashgabat, which combines the fabulous East and European classics. However, every residential, administrative or industrial complex, every transport or trade facility that put into operation has the green area.
Parks, squares, alleys, green recreation areas, sports and playgrounds, flowerbeds and lawns have become an invariable attribute of every major new building. It is symbolically that several new parks have been opened in different parts of Ashgabat this year the day before the Day of Ashgabat. Two of them named in honor of the Turkmen classical poets: Kemine and Andalib. This is an excellent gift for the holiday in honor of the day of capital, the “green” concept of development of which leads to innovative economic practices.
