Turkmen fighters to perform at the Open European Championship in Hand-to-Hand Fighting


On May 25, the capital of Belarus will host the Open European Championship in Hand-to-Hand Fighting, which will gather over 300 professional athletes from 30 countries, including Turkmenistan, USA, Canada, Iran, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, etc. One athlete representing one of the participating countries will participate in each weight category. The strongest fighters, prizewinners of world and Europe championships, will represent the national team of hosting country. However, Turkmen athletes under the guidance of honorary coaches Orif Bukharakov, Rustam Kuraev and Orazgeldy Orazgeldyev will be able to put up a good fight. Hand-to-hand fighting sport is a young type of martial arts that is rapidly gaining popularity. The International Federation of this sport was founded just in 2006. In accordance with the Certificate of the Hand-to Hand Fighting Sport International Federation, the Federation of Martial Arts of Turkmenistan (FMAT) has the right to develop hand-to-hand fighting in the country and conduct various competitions. Moreover, the FMAT is a ticket for our compatriots to participate in international tournaments under the auspices of the Hand-to-Hand Fighting Sport International Federation.
