Day of Constitution and State Flag Celebrated in Turkmenistan
On May 18, the Day of the Constitution and the State Flag was celebrated in Turkmenistan. This year, for the first time, the celebration of the anniversary of the adoption of the Basic Law of an independent state was joined with the Day of the Flag, which, in fact, is logical, because two symbols of the sovereignty of the state are now united in one significant date.
In Ashgabat, the main celebrations began near the Constitution Monument, a massive stela towering against the backdrop of the mountains. In the morning, an official ceremony of laying flowers was held in which President Berdimuhamedov, members of the government and other leaders, as well as the public members took part.
The same solemn action took place at the 133-meter flagpole with the Main Flag of Turkmenistan.
In addition, in the evening in the city, on an open platform near one of the main streets of the capital – Garashsyzlyk Avenue, a big concert took place that gathered hundreds of spectators.
The audience applauded the famous stage masters, popular singers, folklore ensembles. The presentation program with elements of the ethnographic show included patriotic music, arrangements of folk lyric songs and pop compositions.
As always, the favorite dance - kushtdepdi, which was joined by many spectators, was presented also. Its incendiary rhythm and absolutely unique choreography is the decoration of every big and small celebration in Turkmenistan.
The festive event was traditionally held in the Palace of orphaned children in the Turkmen capital – “Döwletliler köşgi”, at which its pupils received sweets and healthy gifts on behalf of President Berdimuhamedov.
Festive performances and other festivities were held in all regions, on open stages of administrative centers, where, like in the capital, the main flagpoles with green flags were also installed.
