From May 15 to May 20, the most capable high school students from all regions of the country will gather in Ashgabat for the final of the annual contest of talented youth. Today the Ashgabat city tour of the competition was held, which gathered eight participants - two from each district of the capital. The contestants were to prepare a speech in English on the topic "My Motherland", a video called "Turkmenistan is the heart of the Great Silk Road" and in general to show their level of English. The jury was most impressed by the 10th grade student of the specialized school of Ashgabat No. 37 Selbi Charyyeva who sang the poem of the outstanding Turkmen poet and thinker Makhtumkuli in five languages and recorded a video about the Great Silk Road in the historical fortress of Nisa. She and Shirali Baisakhedov, a pupil of school No. 74, who had a good command of English, will represent the capital in a nationwide contest.Ayjahan ATABALLYEVA
"Each of the speakers is worthy of victory, all of them are talented children with a high level of foreign language skills," commented Merdan Atayev, a teacher of the educational center "Gujurly Nesil", one of the members of the jury.
All participants were awarded valuable prizes from the Ministry of Education and the Central Council of the Youth Organization named after Makhtumkuli.
