In 2018, the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan not only renewed by 60 percent, but also became younger for more than 10 years. The average age of the current government is 48.8 years. While at the beginning of last year, this figure was 59.1 years. In other words, the Cabinet of Ministers of the country has become younger for more than 10 years (to be precise, it is 10.3 years). In the current Turkmen government, the oldest vice-premier (Rashid Meredov) is 58 years old, and the two youngest of them (Mammethan Chakyev and Myratgeldy Meredov) are 41 years old each. The most senior vice-premier in last year's government was 60 years old, and in the current, let us repeat, the aksakal of the Cabinet of Ministers is just 58 years old. If at the beginning of 2017 the youngest vice-premier (Batyr Atdaev) was 45 year old, this year, as already mentioned, the lower age threshold has descended for 4 points, at once for two, and for another one deputy chairman – for one year. Therefore, the average age of the current government is just under 49 years. Although it is difficult to call “young” the one who is nearly fifty years old, but in high-level authorities “fifty years” is not so much. In any case, it is obvious that President Berdimuhamedov is betting on younger forces. It is understandable. They come easy with complex innovative IT technologies, where the knowledge and ability to work with them are the most important demand of the Turkmen leader, who continues to equip new industrial centers and modernize existing production facilities with up-to-date equipment. Attention should be paid to the following fact also. Berdimuhamedov did not disgrace the former deputies, but appointed as a second-line executive authority leaders to those areas where their experience is most welcomed. Working sessions of the Cabinet of Ministers are held weekly on Fridays. Often, in addition to deputy chairpersons, heads of certain ministries or departments are joined, in connection with the need for more detailed resolution of the issues on the agenda. The usual composition of the sessions of the government is 10 deputy chairpersons, including one woman plus the head of the Turkmen parliament (also a woman). Women at 20 percent out of total present the Turkmen government. Such gender ratio remains for a number of last years.Alexandr Bayriyev
