President: Turkmenbashi port activates interregional economic cooperation
The international seaport of Turkmenbashi will open new opportunities for interregional economic cooperation in the Caspian, which is a strategically important region. This was stated by President Berdimuhamedov, speaking at the International Forum "The Great Silk Road - towards new milestones of development", reports TDH.
The commissioning of a new state-of-the-art port will also strengthen cooperation between the Caspian states, and will contribute to resolving pressing political issues.
The President noted that Turkmenistan is ready to discuss any aspects of cooperation in the Caspian with all countries, including landlocked countries, as well as partners from the SCO, the CIS and ECO.
The Turkmenbashi port will open up opportunities for intercontinental shipping to the Black Sea region, the Middle East, European countries, the Asia-Pacific region and South Asia, minimizing the distance and travel time. Its total annual capacity, excluding petroleum products, is more than 17 million tons of cargo.
