Neutrality and independence are defining Turkmenistan's foreign policy position

The United States Department of State has issued a report, which assesses the voting practices of the governments of UN member states into the General Assembly, and evaluates the actions and responsiveness of those governments to Washington policy on issues of special importance to the United States as well as of those states that have their own position regarding the situation in the world.
Turkmenistan is in the second group of countries in this report, which are voicing independent opinion in the UN.
In this regard, we should note that, in this case, the US Department of State showed objectivity: Neutral Turkmenistan in international organizations does not look at the position taken by other countries, but expresses its point of view based on the principles of positive neutrality.
Turkmenistan, without interfering in the internal affairs of other states, encourages them to follow this principle. In addition, Ashgabat in principle opposes the use of military force in resolving disputes, believing that all disagreements of the state should be solved by political and diplomatic means in accordance with the norms of international law.
