Uzbekistan to join TAPI gas pipeline project

Following the talks with Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, Uzbek leader Shavkat Mirziyoyev told reporters that Tashkent would take part in the implementation of Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) gas pipeline project.
The Uzbek leader added that the successful construction of the gas pipeline is a factor in stabilizing the situation in Afghanistan and prosperity in the region, therefore Uzbekistan sees this project as common to all Asian states.
Alisher Sultanov, Vice-Premier, Chairman of the Board of JSC “Uzbekneftegaz”, told media that soon the delegation of Uzbekistan would travel to Ashgabat to discuss Tashkent’s role in the pipeline participation.
