Matvienko invited the head of the parliament of Turkmenistan to the Eurasian Women's Forum
The Chairman of the Federation Council of the Russian Federation, Valentina Matvienko, held a meeting with the Chairman of the Turkmen Mejlis G. Mammedova on the sidelines of the 47th session of the Interparliamentary Assembly of the CIS Member States.
According to the opinion of a third person of the Russian state, which is currently V. Matvienko, Turkmenistan is a strategic partner for Russia. And it is very important, as the Chairman of the Federation Council of the Russian Federation believes, that the relations between our countries are developing productively. The visit of the Russian president to Turkmenistan in October 2017 gave impetus to their expansion.
"Now we are completing preparations for ratification of the agreement on strategic partnership signed by the two countries' presidents, and we will ratify it in the near future," the speaker of the Federation Council said. At the same time V. Matvienko reminded that three years ago an agreement between the Federation Council of the Russian Federation and the Mejlis of Turkmenistan was also signed, which, most likely, needs to either be updated or replaced by a new one.
During the meeting, Valentina Ivanovna, congratulating G. Mammedova on the successful elections, with undisguised satisfaction noted that women continue to remain as the head of the Turkmen parliament. At the same time, the speaker of the Federation Council of the Russian Federation made a significant emphasis on the fact that this is "an important signal to the international community!"
Some observers unsuccessfully tried to decipher this phrase, but, it seems to us, only the participants in the dialogue understood it fully.
Moreover, V. Matvienko handed G. Mammedova an official invitation to take part in the II Eurasian Women's Forum. She also kindly thanked the Turkmen authorities for their assistance in organizing the presidential elections on the territory of Turkmenistan and for inviting the CIS observer mission to participate in the recent elections in Turkmenistan.
Matvienko suggested that the head of the Turkmen parliament jointly consider issues of deepening the dialogue between the Federation Council of the Russian Federation and the Mejlis of Turkmenistan.
Since Turkmenistan in 2018 became the co-chairman of the Commonwealth of Independent States, and in the future will be chairman of the CIS, cooperation on the parliamentary line between Russia and Turkmenistan will be extremely mutually beneficial. At least, so believes V. Matvienko. And Gulshat Mammadova did not express any special objections to this.
