Nazarbayev: Astana and Ashgabat have reached a new level of partnership

Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan reached a high level of mutual understanding in all key areas. The President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev in Akorda gave such high assessment to the relations of the two fraternal states during the ceremony of presentation of credentials by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Turkmenistan Toili Komekov to the Republic of Kazakhstan. According to the Kazakh leader, today Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan are fraternal Central Asian states, connected by the bonds of friendship and good-neighborliness. Nazarbayev stressed that our states have established a trustful and constructive dialogue and reached a high level of mutual understanding on all key aspects. The visit of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to Astana in the spring of 2017 and Nazarbayev's visit to Ashgabat in the autumn of the same year opened a new stage in the history of the Turkmen-Kazakh interstate dialogue in all areas. The Kazakh leader highly appreciated the achievement of historic agreements - the Strategic Partnership Treaty and the Agreement on the demarcation of the state border between the two countries. According to the Kazakh president, they brought the bilateral partnership to a new level. The development of partnership relations with neighboring states is the main priority of Turkmenistan's foreign policy. At the same time, the relations between Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan are of a special nature. Ashgabat and Astana are united not only by the problems of arranging a common house - Central Asia, but also solving the problems of the unique Caspian Sea, where both countries are also neighbors. In addition, the two states have rich hydrocarbon resources and an advantageous geographical location, contribute to the development of strategic partnership in such key areas of the world economy as the fuel and energy, and transport and communications sectors. This is evidenced by two implemented projects of continental importance - the Turkmenistan-Uzbekistan-Kazakhstan-China gas pipeline and the Kazakhstan-Turkmenistan-Iran international railway.
