“Music unites!” – said Margret Maria Uebber, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federal Republic of Germany, before the concert of the German jazz band “FAVO” in Ashgabat. Moreover, it united not only the musicians and listeners in the hall, and not only the cultural traditions of Turkmenistan and Germany. It united the whole world. Listening to the warm baritone of Sander De Winne, the lower bass clarinet sounds of Falk Breitkreuz and the lyrical high melodies of the soprano saxophone of Volker Schlott, the audience managed to meet the dawn in the African savannah (“Sunrise in Kongo”), to dance to folk German motifs (“Because you are mine”), to be imbued with passionate Argentine confessions (“Alfonsina y el mar”), to get warmed near the fireplace during the snowstorm (“Snow time”) and to return to the warm moonlit evening of Turkmenistan (“Aýly agşam”).Maya AMANMURADOVA
“We are very grateful for such a warm welcome. Turkmenistan is a fantastically hospitable country. We were here in March 2017, and since then we want to come back here again and again,” shared Falk Breitkreuz his emotions.
Along with Turkmen musicians – singer Maisa Niyazova and percussionist Dovlet Ivanov – “FAVO” performed several world-famous compositions (“Somewhere over the rainbow” and “This masquerade”), after each of which the hall exploded with a storm of applause. Stylistic elements of classic, jazz, world and pop music melted into the very special FAVO-Sound, which caused a deep emotional response from the audience.
Lively “Armando's Rhumba” from American jazzman Chick Corea, after which standing applauses greeted the musicians, completed the concert.
