The results of the creative contest for foreign citizens “Multifaceted Petersburg”, which is held with the support of the administration of St. Petersburg and the Committee on Interethnic Relations and Implementation of Migration Policy, are announced. Marina Tovmasyan, a student from Turkmenistan, took the second place in the nomination “Artistic Word”. The competition is aimed at the integration of foreigners into Russian culture; therefore, participants have perform some work in Russian: either a poem or a song, or dance to the music of the Russian composer. Before a large audience, Marina read a poem by Bella Ahmadulina “Ascend to the stage.” “I tried to let this poem through myself, while I was preparing for the contest. To be filled with the feelings that the heroine feels, and share it with the audience,” the contestant noted to ORIENT.Ayjahan ATABALLIYEVA
Last year, Marina was also the second in the same category, losing first place to her fellow citizen Sabina Mamedova. At that time, she read a poem by Edward Asadov “Tell me, have you ever loved?”
“I have a love for poetry from early childhood, I grew up surrounded by creative people,” she says.
Marina herself tries the poetic pen, expressing emotions and thoughts in her poems. Literary abilities were useful to her, a master's student at the St. Petersburg University of Industrial Technology and Design, as the head of the press service of the Youth Council at the House of Nationalities of St. Petersburg.
“It is interesting for me to be in a multi-cultural environment. Turkmen culture is an integral part of me, and at the same time, I am trying to learn something from my friends from other countries,”says Marina.
On May 15, the winners of all nominations will perform at the Gala Concert, where the solemn ceremony of awarding winners and diplomats of the contest will be held.
