Turkmen artists to present “Tumar Sha” at Theater Festival in Turkey
The creative team of the Turkmen National Musical-Drama Theater named after Makhtumkuli will take part in the 4th International Theater Festival of the Turkic world, which will be held in the Turkish city of Mersin on April 24-30, 2018.
Turkmen artists will present to the public the historical performance of “Tumar Sha”, which has gained immense popularity among the domestic audience.
The performance tells about the difficult fate of the Massagetean ruler – Queen Tumar (Tomyris), her boundless love for the Motherland, a woman who, with her wisdom, courage and dignity, could prevail over the enemies. Tomyris led her armies to defend against an attack by the Persian ruler Cyrus the Great, the founder of the Achaemenid Empire, and defeated and killed him in 530 BC.
The author of the play is Govshutgeldi Danatarov, the stage director is Aynazar Batyrov, the composer is Begench Hodjayev, the stage designer – Vepa Amansahedov. Nargiza Halykova, Honored Artist of Turkmenistan, performs the main role of Tumar Sha.
