The inclusion of eSports in the program of demonstration competitions of the V Asian Indoor and Martial arts Games, held in Ashgabat in September 2017, gave impetus to the reboot of the Turkmen eSports. On April 1, 2018, in the conference hall of the “Yildiz” hotel the Turkmen Association of eSports held a mini-seminar, on which the organizers announced the creation of the TNeSF-Turkmenistan eSports Federation. And it wasn’t a joke. President of the Federation Mekan “Boomer” Eyeberdyev, Vice-President Vlad “P.O.” Badalov and PR specialist Nazar “NaZa” Udeumuradov told ORIENT about the goals and plans for the future. “eSports is now mega-popular not only in the West or China. It has already been officially recognized by Egypt, Namibia and South Africa. Their recent debut just blew up the industry. We can just as well and even better!” Since 2000, the first computer clubs began to appear in Turkmenistan, informal tournaments were held. In 2005 representatives of Turkmenistan took part in the WCG (World Cyber Games) international tournament in Singapore, in 2006 — in Italy. In 2007 — in the championship of the ASUS CUP in Russia. Then the development slowed down. But in 2016, the forthcoming Asian games and the opportunity to show to millions of audience again promoted the interest in computer games in Turkmenistan. There are 3 officially recognized disciplines in Turkmenistan: Dota 2 — battle arena, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CS:GO) — shooter, and Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft — card strategy. In the future, the organizers of the Federation plan to introduce sports simulators such as FIFA, individual “fightings” and real-time strategy (RTS). “To date, the largest and most prestigious competitions — are those from game developers like the International (Dota 2). There are huge prizes and incredible competition. This is a great advertisement for the company itself and amazing opportunity for players to show their skills.” What makes eSports so popular? Ease. You do not need any complex equipment and hours of physical effort. Enough to have a computer with Internet access, assemble a team (if the game implies), and you have all chances to become a cyber-athlete. Streaming services and online materials provide ample opportunities for learning and training. And if you show good results, the Federation will find you. As in any sport, the will to win, the ability to recognize mistakes and learn from them, to respect rivals is very important in eSports. In common with “big” sports and there is the age of cyber-sportsmen. In games that require super-fast reactions, a peak of the sports form falls on 19-25 years. In competitive puzzles the average age is between 22 and 30. But these limits are not immutable. Swedish team “Silver Snipers” (the average age of participants — 71) is pleased to destroy their opponents in CS:GO. And 14-year-old players are almost in each relatively young team. “This is the eSports’ best feature. You can do what you like, communicate with people with similar interests and not bother with any differences. In the game we are all equal, it motivates to develop yourself as a person, with no regards to stereotypes.” Geography of the tournaments for citizens of Turkmenistan is expanding every day. At WESG in Changzhou, China, which ended in March 2018, the Turkmen team KABAL GAMING gained incomparable experience. “After the Asian games, we trained hard,” — says Dovlet “ENNY” Niyazov, the team player. — We wanted to show everyone that we are capable of more. Of course, it’s not the same as playing from home — the stress is incredible. But we are the team to deal with it. We learned a lot from WESG, made some notes for the future. Now we are waiting for the official opening of the Federation to prove ourselves in domestic tournaments.“ TNeSF also plans to join the International eSports Federation — IeSF, create a database of players and eSports teams and hold qualifying competitions (the first tournament is scheduled for June 15), the winners of which will be included in the national team of Turkmenistan. Since February, 2018 operation on TNeSF registration in the relevant state bodies have started. Also equipping of “Bootcamp” (training base), and negotiations with the Ministry of communications on the allocation of a separate channel continues, and the official opening of the Federation is planned in May 2018.Maya AMANMURADOVA
