Turkmenistan believes that Afghanistan needs social projects for peace

Turkmenistan believes that the necessary social projects are needed for reestablishment of peace in Afghanistan. Vepa Hajiyev, Deputy Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan, mentioned it at the international conference on Afghanistan in Tashkent.
In his opinion, it is important not only to organize peace talks of the Afghan warring parties, but also to implement concrete measures to establish a peaceful life in this country.
According to the representative of Turkmenistan, it is necessary to develop social projects that will unite the influential forces of Afghan society and encourage them to peace negotiations.
Hajiyev noted that within the framework of such a policy, Ashgabat initiated the implementation of several socio-economic projects of regional importance, such as the construction of Turkmenistan – Afghanistan – Pakistan – India pipeline, as well as the construction of power and fibre optic lines Turkmenistan – Afghanistan – Pakistan, which will have the greatest impact on the normalization of life in Afghanistan.
Ashgabat called for a peaceful, political and diplomatic means of settlement of the Afghan issue even at a time when the idea of bringing peace to Afghanistan by military force was popular.
Now, it has become obvious that the forceful solution of the Afghan problem leads to a dead end. The Turkmen side continues to support the involvement of Afghanistan in the implementation of major projects. Thus, in the opinion of experts, the implementation of the TAPI project will let the Afghan authorities to solve the most acute tasks of the country's social and economic development, and will create thousands of jobs that are so necessary for the population as well.
