Ashgabat and Tehran agreed on joint work on the Caspian Sea

Addressing a media after the Turkmen-Iranian top-level talks, President Berdimuhamedov noted that agreements between the countries regarding hydrocarbon reserves, in particular, on their processing, and on carrying out of some work on the Caspian Sea had been reached, TDH reports. The Turkmen leader emphasized that Turkmenistan and Iran stand for enhancing the efficient cooperation on the Caspian Sea, strengthening its status as the sea of peace and harmony. At present, the construction of the Turkmenbashi International Sea Port at the Caspian Sea is under completion. This will allow Turkmenistan to develop the communication at sea with the largest seaports at the north of Iran - Enzeli (trade port) and Neka (oil-loading port) as well as to increase the volumes of multimodal international cargo transportation through the southern port of Bandar Abbas in the Persian Gulf. Confirming the unanimity of views of the parties on the issues related to the Caspian Sea, Hassan Rouhani in his speech to the media noted the great potential for interaction in this region in the oil and gas industry, which meets the interests of the economic development of both states. Successful implementation of such plans will not only activate, but also deepen and strengthen economic and political ties with Iran and other countries of the region.
