Terminal for transit of mineral fertilizers from Central Asia to be built in Batumi

A multimodal transit terminal will be built in the Georgian seaport of Batumi to supply mineral fertilizers from the Central Asian states to the world markets. This $20 million investment project is being implemented by the international logistics company Wondernet Exspress LLP, based in the Netherlands. In addition to the terminal, the project provides for the construction of storage facilities with a capacity of 60,000 tons of mineral fertilizers. The terminal at the first stage of work will be able to process up to 1.2 million tons of mineral fertilizers annually. Turkmenistan intends to become a major exporter of mineral fertilizers. In March last year, the country launched the Garlyk Ore Mining and Processing Plant for the production of potash fertilizers. With its reaching its designed capacity, the enterprise will produce 1.4 million tons of potash fertilizers per year. This will allow not only to meet Turkmenistan's needs in potash fertilizers, but also to send a significant part of the production volume to foreign markets. Moreover, more recently, President Berdimuhamedov ordered to allocate a loan to the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan for the construction of another enterprise for the production of potash fertilizers.
