Turkmenistan shows record turnout of voters in presidential elections in Russia


Today, Russian citizens around the world have the opportunity to vote in the presidential election. In Turkmenistan, this could be done in five cities - Ashgabat, Mary, Turkmenabat, Turkmenbashi and Dashoguz.
As reported by RIA Novosti, the country shows a record turnout of voters - by the Ashgabat time of 12:00, about 1.2 thousand people had come to the polling stations.
For comparison, as many people came to the last elections to the State Duma of the Russian Federation in the whole day.
According to the chairman of the polling station in Ashgabat, the adviser-envoy of the Russian Federation in Turkmenistan, Sergei Nasinovsky - turnout this year may exceed the figures in 2016 twice.
During the telephone conversation on 13th of March between the leaders of Turkmenistan and Russia, President Berdimuhamedov expressed the hope that the citizens of the Russian Federation will vote in the elections and make the right decision.
Eight candidates are running for the post of the head of the Russian Federation this year.
