Turkmenistan to take part in the discussion of the Caspian environmental problems
Employees of the environmental department and Turkmenistan's structures related to maritime activities will take part in the "Caspian Sea Day" forum, which will be held on August 10-11 in Astrakhan. The agenda of the meeting covers a wide range of topics: monitoring of marine and coastal pollution, biodiversity conservation, environmental safety, etc. United Nations Environment Program experts are expected to join the discussion. At the initiative of Turkmenistan, a number of international agreements have been developed and adopted to protect marine biodiversity and ensure security in the Caspian. Now the Convention on the legal status of the Caspian Sea is being drafted. During the state visit to Astana in April this year, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov expressed hope that the document will be signed at the next summit of the heads of the Caspian states in Kazakhstan.
