The UN Secretary-General counts on the leadership qualities of President Berdymukhamedov
"I count on your leadership qualities and commitment to the UN activities to achieve effective solutions for the most pressing issues of our time," says the message of the UN Secretary General, António Guterres, to the President of Turkmenistan.
Expressing appreciation for the hospitality during the June visit to Turkmenistan, Mr. Guterres highly appreciated the Turkmen contribution to the achievement of the overall goals of sustainable development, including the sustainable development of the transport system and fight against terrorism.
The Secretary General also thanked for the support and successful holding in Ashgabat of the "High-level dialogue between the UN and Central Asia on the implementation of the UN Global Counter-Terrorism Strategy." The Ashgabat Declaration, adopted by its results, demonstrates the unanimity of the Central Asian countries in strengthening partnership and coordination with the UN in the fight against terrorism and preventing extremism, the letter says.
"I greatly appreciate the support that you have personally provided to the United Nations Regional Center for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia since its inception ten years ago," Guterres continued. - This support is evidence of your country's efforts to promote regional cooperation and preventive diplomacy. I was also impressed by the new UN building provided by the government in Ashgabat and its excellent premises for the UN country team."
