Energy security is becoming an increasingly important factor in global economic stability. Amid disruptions to international supplies, diversified transport routes, technological innovation and cooperation between energy producers and consumers are gaining particular significance.

The Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition and Conference, ADIPEC 2026, opened on November 2 in the capital of the United Arab Emirates. This year's event is taking place against a backdrop of major disruptions to global energy supply chains.

According to CCTV, shipping through the Strait of Hormuz has been severely constrained since late February, following the start of U.S.-Israeli military operations against Iran.

Under normal circumstances, this strategic waterway carries approximately one-fifth of the world's oil and liquefied natural gas supplies.

Running through November 5, ADIPEC 2026 is the largest edition in the event's history, bringing together more than 2,250 companies from around the world. Participants are showcasing advanced technologies, innovative developments and solutions supporting the global energy transition.

Government officials, leading energy corporations, investors and technology companies have gathered to discuss supply chain resilience, infrastructure development and new opportunities for international cooperation.

Khamis Al Mazrouei, CEO of the Sharjah National Oil Corporation, emphasized that ADIPEC provides an important platform for industry representatives to assess current challenges and develop strategies to reduce future risks.

He noted that resilience has become a central theme of this year's exhibition, reflecting the impact of the energy crisis and disruptions to global supply routes.

One of the practical responses under consideration is the development of alternative energy transportation corridors. Al Mazrouei said his company is working on a pipeline corridor connecting energy supplies to ports on the Gulf of Oman, allowing crude oil and fuel products to reach the Indian Ocean without passing through the Strait of Hormuz.

The proposed route is intended to reduce the risks associated with possible restrictions or closures of the strategic waterway. Chinese exhibitors are also participating in the event, presenting technologies and solutions for the energy industry.

First launched in 1984, ADIPEC has developed into one of the Middle East's largest and most influential professional energy exhibitions.

As reported by SSTV+, ADIPEC 2026 in Abu Dhabi has brought together more than 2,250 companies to discuss global energy security and supply chain resilience.

Among the solutions highlighted is the development of alternative transport corridors designed to reduce dependence on the Strait of Hormuz.
