Oman's Sultan Haitham bin Tariq arrives in China for state visit
High-level state visits provide opportunities to strengthen mutual trust and expand cooperation. They also help countries identify new areas of partnership in a changing global economy.
Oman's Sultan Haitham bin Tariq Al Said arrived in Beijing on November 1 for a two-day state visit at the invitation of Chinese President Xi Jinping. The visit marks the first trip by an Omani head of state to China since the two countries established diplomatic relations in 1978.
During his stay, Sultan Haitham is scheduled to hold talks with President Xi on bilateral relations and issues of mutual interest. He is also expected to meet Chinese Premier Li Qiang.
China and Oman established a strategic partnership in 2018 and have expanded cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative. Key areas include renewable energy, advanced manufacturing, the digital economy, aerospace and artificial intelligence.
As reported by SSTV+, China's Foreign Ministry said Beijing is ready to use the visit to further strengthen its strategic partnership with Oman.
