Wang Huning accompanies Kim Jong Un on visit to Dandong
Wang Huning, a senior Chinese political advisor, accompanied Kim Jong Un, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and president of the State Affairs of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), on a visit to Dandong in northeast China's Liaoning Province on Saturday.
Wang, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, conveyed Chinese President Xi Jinping's cordial greetings and best wishes to Kim.
On Saturday morning, the two leaders visited the Memorial Hall of the War to Resist U.S. Aggression and Aid Korea. They laid a floral basket at the memorial tower in honor of the Chinese People's Volunteers who died during the conflict and observed a moment of silence.
During the tour, Kim viewed rare cultural relics and historical materials documenting the volunteers' participation in the Korean War. He also presented the memorial hall with a collection of historical photographs bearing his handwritten inscriptions.
At their meeting, Wang said Kim's special visit to Dandong ahead of the 76th anniversary of the Chinese People's Volunteers' entry into the Korean War reflected the DPRK leadership's commitment to its traditional friendship with China.
Wang said the visit was significant for strengthening bilateral ties, deepening political trust and expanding cooperation. China is ready to work with the DPRK to implement agreements reached by the two countries' leaders and further develop relations for the benefit of both peoples.
Kim, in turn, asked Wang to convey his warm greetings to Xi. He said his visit was intended to honor the Chinese volunteers who came to the DPRK's aid at a critical moment in history and to express lasting gratitude and respect for those who fought in the Korean War.
Kim noted that Xi's historic visit to the DPRK in June marked an important milestone in bilateral relations. He said the DPRK was ready to preserve its traditional friendship with China, expand practical cooperation and deliver tangible benefits to their peoples.
In the afternoon, Wang and Kim visited an automobile factory in Dandong, where they toured a production workshop and received a briefing on the facility's operations. When Kim departed, Wang saw him off at the new China-DPRK Yalu River Bridge.
According to CCTV+, Kim's visit to Dandong focused on commemorating the Chinese People's Volunteers and reaffirming the longstanding ties between China and the DPRK.
