Zelensky requests another 70 billion euros in EU aid for 2027
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Friday asked European Union leaders to provide Ukraine with at least another 70 billion euros in assistance for 2027.
Speaking at an EU summit in Brussels, Zelensky said Ukraine's war-related costs could reach 155 billion euros next year. He said additional funding would be needed for defense, weapons and national resilience.
Zelensky described the 70-billion-euro request as a realistic amount and urged European partners to find the necessary resources.
At a subsequent press conference, he also highlighted Ukraine's heavy reliance on the U.S.-controlled Starlink satellite communications system. According to Zelensky, recent speed restrictions disrupted drone interceptions and military logistics.
The Ukrainian president also criticized Washington's recent diesel agreement with Moscow and the easing of some sanctions, saying Kyiv had not been informed in advance.
At the same time, Zelensky said Ukrainian and U.S. negotiating teams remained in contact.
According to CCTV+, Ukraine is seeking additional financial and military support from the European Union for 2027 amid continued high costs and dependence on external assistance.
