The Final of the "Tatar Kyzy – 2026" International Contest Held in Turkmenbashi

On October 7, the final stage of the "Tatar Kyzy – 2026" international contest—an event dedicated to preserving the historical heritage, native language, and traditions of the Tatar people—took place at the Ruhyýet Palace in the city of Turkmenbashi. Unlike traditional beauty pageants, the jury evaluated the finalists' intellectual and creative abilities, culinary skills, and knowledge of customs, national songs, and dances.
This large-scale grand final was held in Turkmenistan for the first time in history, following the victory of the country's representative, Alsu Rafikova, in the previous year's competition. Hosting such a prestigious cultural project on the shores of the Caspian Sea was the result of agreements reached between National Leader of the Turkmen people and Chairman of the Khalk Maslakhaty, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, and Head of the Republic of Tatarstan, Rustam Minnikhanov.
The gala program opened with a performance by Alina Sharipzhanova, People's Artist of the Republic of Tatarstan, and the State Dance Ensemble of Tatarstan. During the final round, contestants presented videos showcasing family values, handicrafts, and traditional cuisine. The venue hosted spectacular performances by renowned artists and fashion shows featuring houses from Turkmenistan and Tatarstan; a joint performance of the "Kushtdepdi" dance by the "Dehistan" and "Dagdan" groups alongside the State Dance Ensemble of Tatarstan served as a vivid symbol of the enduring friendship and cultural unity between the two peoples.

Twelve young women from regions of Russia, Kyrgyzstan, Turkey, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan reached the final. Following the various competition stages, Amina Makhmudova from Uzbekistan emerged as the winner. Dina Zaripova represented Tatarstan in the contest, while the official delegation was led by the Republic's Deputy Prime Minister, Vasil Shaikhraziev. The official award ceremony will take place on October 8 in the "Avaza" National Tourist Zone, where the winner will receive the grand prize from the President of Turkmenistan, Serdar Berdimuhamedov—a new car.
