The Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Held International Conference on Heritage
On October 5, an international conference titled "National Heritage: A Solid Foundation of Our Independence" took place at the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.
Guests were drawn to an exhibition of applied arts set up in the institute's foyer, as well as performances by amateur artists and a creative group.
The conference was moderated by Aygozel Ovezova—Chairperson of the Institute’s "Culture of Peace" UNESCO Club, an active member of the Central Council of the Women's Union of Turkmenistan, and a senior lecturer.
Participants in the conference included Gulshat Yusupova, Rector of the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan (Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences); Chinar Rustemova, Executive Secretary of the National Commission of Turkmenistan for UNESCO, Hero of Turkmenistan, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Turkmenistan (Candidate of Philosophical Sciences); Jemile Kurbanova, Head of the Intangible Cultural Heritage Department at the Ministry of Culture of Turkmenistan (Candidate of Art History); and Gurban Muradov, Head of the International Cooperation Department at the Central Council of the Magtymguly Youth Organization of Turkmenistan.
In addition, presentations were delivered via videoconference by Dmitry Subselnin, President of the Association of UNESCO Clubs of the Republic of Belarus (Candidate of Sociological Sciences, Associate Professor); Sabina Akzharova, Vice-President of the Kazakhstan National Federation of UNESCO Clubs; Dariya Musina, representative of the Association of UNESCO Clubs of the Kyrgyz Republic; and Professor Mustafa Sever, Vice-President of the Education Committee of the Turkish National Commission for UNESCO.
Speeches highlighted the significance of Turkmenistan’s policy of neutrality—grounded in principles of good-neighborliness, mutual respect, equality, and mutually beneficial cooperation with all nations and authoritative international organizations. Particular note was made of the productive ties with the United Nations and its specialized agencies—specifically UNESCO (the UN Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization)—which are flourishing thanks to the country's positive foreign policy.
During the conference, active members of the institute’s "Culture of Peace" UNESCO Club were ceremoniously presented with certificates of honor and commemorative gifts.
Speakers noted the extensive cooperation between Turkmenistan and UNESCO in the scientific and educational spheres, as well as the opportunities created for the operation of UNESCO chairs, clubs, federations, and associations—both within the country’s higher education institutions and abroad—and for strengthening ties among them.
Emphasis was placed on the importance of holding this conference at a high organizational level, in line with state policy aimed at further enhancing international cooperation, studying and integrating global best practices into the educational process, identifying talented youth, and increasing their participation in scientific and cultural projects.
At the conclusion of the international conference, participants adopted an address to the esteemed President of Turkmenistan, Serdar Berdimuhamedov.
