Chinese space companies expand international cooperation at IAC
Hundreds of commercial space companies have gathered in Antalya, Türkiye, for the 77th International Astronautical Congress, where Chinese firms are showcasing rockets, satellites, ground systems and digital services.
The five-day congress is being held under the theme “The World Needs More Space” and covers major industry priorities including lunar exploration, satellite systems, artificial intelligence, space security and international cooperation.
Chinese companies are increasingly expanding overseas by offering not only hardware but also training and knowledge transfer. STAR.VISION, for example, has signed an agreement with an Omani partner on two new AI satellites with 0.5-meter resolution. Both sides say the project will also support local capacity building.
Other companies are developing international ground infrastructure. Emposat has established around 10 overseas ground stations and plans to use the network to promote solutions from China's aerospace industry.
Manufacturers are also working to reduce satellite costs and improve performance. Final Frontier says its research and development across chip, device, subsystem and satellite levels allows it to optimize costs and strengthen capabilities.
Chinese firms are also promoting commercial spacecraft for microgravity research. CAS Space plans the maiden flight of its reusable Lihong-2 suborbital spacecraft early next year, including for space medicine research.
According to CCTV+, China is home to more than 600 commercial space enterprises, with a growing number expanding internationally through joint projects, technology exports and local talent development.
