A Ceremony Was Held at the Mosque in the City of Arkadag, Attended by the National Leader of the Turkmen People, on the Eve of the Day of Remembrance
The continuity of generations, a reverent attitude toward historical memory, and a constructive vision for the future define the development trajectory of the new digital "smart city" of Arkadag. Ahead of October 6—a sacred date for the Turkmen people when the nation pays tribute to the victims of the 1948 Ashgabat earthquake and to the defenders of the Fatherland who fell in the Battle of Geok Tepe and on the battlefields of all wars—National Leader of the Turkmen people and Chairman of the Khalk Maslakhaty, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, paid a working visit to the "smart city."
A key part of the visit was the inspection of the spiritual and educational complex, which includes the "Arkadagyň ruhy metjidi" mosque (accommodating 30,000 worshippers), a sadaka (ritual meal) hall with a capacity of 1,500, and a madrasa currently under construction, where traditional canons blend harmoniously with modern educational facilities. Prayers were offered within the complex for the repose of the souls of the departed, the prosperity of the country, and the well-being of the people.
Alongside the construction of religious sites in Arkadag, the second phase of development—focused on building advanced scientific, educational, and medical capabilities—is gaining momentum. Special attention is being paid to equipping a specialized school for intensive foreign language study, where the curriculum will integrate cutting-edge multimedia technologies with the best international teaching methods.
As part of the city's medical cluster development, manufacturing facilities for domestic pharmaceutical and medical products are being actively established. Today, the comprehensive approach to public health relies on integrating artificial intelligence into diagnostics and maximizing the region's unique natural assets—strategies that fully align with a key national policy priority: the timely prevention of disease.
The high standard of living in Arkadag is underpinned by an ecosystem that blends "smart city" innovations with environmental well-being. The design of residential areas, energy-efficient smart lighting, and the expansion of green spaces and orchards around the city are all aimed at creating a highly comfortable environment for residents. The combination of advanced technology, a focus on human health, and a deep, respectful connection to spiritual roots makes Arkadag a symbol of Turkmenistan’s vision for the future.
