International Day of Older Persons Was Celebrated at the Dovletmammet Azadi Turkmen National Institute of World Languages

Today, a ceremonial event dedicated to the International Day of Older Persons was held at the Dovletmammet Azadi Turkmen National Institute of World Languages. The celebration was attended by representatives of the university’s teaching staff, distinguished teacher-mentors who have devoted many years to the development of the country’s education system, as well as students.

The official part of the meeting focused on the importance of continuity between generations and the role of experience in educating young people. The organizers emphasized that respect for elders is one of the key traditions of the Turkmen people. In this regard, special importance is attached to the activities of UNESCO Clubs and Chairs operating under the guidance of the Secretariat of the National Commission of Turkmenistan for UNESCO. Meetings with labor veterans and learning about their life journeys help educate the younger generation in the spirit of patriotism, morality and respect for national values.
The distinguished teachers, in turn, shared memories of their lives and professional careers with the students, spoke about the various stages in the development of the institute, and wished them success in their studies and future careers.

The event continued with a festive cultural program. Students performed poems dedicated to parents, peace and mentorship in various foreign languages. The university’s creative groups and invited artists presented musical and dance performances.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the labor veterans were thanked for their many years of conscientious contribution to the training of young specialists and presented with commemorative gifts.
The International Day of Older Persons, proclaimed by the United Nations General Assembly in 1990, is observed annually on October 1 and aims to draw attention to issues concerning older generations and recognize their contribution to the development of society.
