Bentley Unveils First EV at Half the Price of a Ferrari Supercar
British luxury automaker Bentley Motors has unveiled its first all-electric SUV, the Torcal. The model’s market launch aims to gauge the willingness of wealthy buyers to switch to eco-friendly transport, even as other ultra-luxury manufacturers revise their electrification plans.
The new 888-horsepower vehicle can accelerate to 96 km/h in under three seconds and offers a range of approximately 600 kilometers on a single charge. Bentley has set the starting price for the Torcal at around $229,000, making it nearly half the price of Ferrari’s first electric vehicle, the Luce, which starts at €550,000 (nearly $626,000).
To maintain the loyalty of the brand's enthusiasts, the company's engineers retained traditional design elements and even included a special audio system that simulates the signature sound of a V8 gasoline engine.
