Mark Zuckerberg Unveils Lightweight VR Glasses and Pocket AI Assistant
Meta has taken another step toward turning science fiction into everyday reality. At its annual presentation, Mark Zuckerberg unveiled two innovative new products: the ultra-lightweight Meta VR Glasses and the compact, pocket-sized Muse Charm gadget.
The VR glasses represent a major design breakthrough; developers managed to reduce their weight to just 100 grams—making them nearly five times lighter than previous bulky headsets—and gave them the look of stylish, everyday eyewear. To achieve this lightness, the processor and battery were moved to a separate, small "puck-like" unit that can simply be slipped into a pocket or bag.
Priced at $1,299 and set for release in the spring of 2027, the new device features a high-resolution display with IMAX support. It is controlled via eye movements, hand gestures, and voice commands, and allows a virtual keyboard to be projected onto any flat surface for comfortable work.
The second surprise was the Muse Charm, a miniature keychain-style device. It serves as an instant-access point for Muse, a personal AI assistant. Users no longer need to pull out their smartphones, unlock screens, or launch apps to ask the assistant to book tickets, fill out documents, or identify objects in front of them; instead, they can simply speak to the small gadget held in their hand.
