Turkmenistan Participates in Meeting of the CIS Council of Heads of Migration Agencies in St. Petersburg

A delegation from the State Migration Service of Turkmenistan, led by the agency's deputy chairman, participated in the 30th meeting of the Council of Heads of Migration Agencies of CIS Member States, held on September 24 in St. Petersburg.
The forum focused primarily on the implementation of modern information technologies to monitor migration flows and combat illegal migration—including the use of biometric systems and intelligent video surveillance—as well as prospects for establishing a unified system for tracking citizens of third countries and stateless persons across the Commonwealth.

Heads of migration agencies discussed the conclusion of bilateral agreements regarding information exchange, readmission, and personnel training. During the meeting, the head of the Turkmen delegation highlighted the country's consistent humanitarian policy—pursued under the leadership of the President of Turkmenistan—and noted the positive practical experience of the national migration management system and active partnerships with prominent international organizations. Following the meeting, the parties agreed on a draft work plan for the Council for 2027, reaffirming their commitment to deepening constructive cooperation.
