President of Turkmenistan Signs Decree Pardoning 1,054 Citizens
The President of Turkmenistan and Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Serdar Berdimuhamedov, has signed a decree pardoning convicted individuals. Under the decree, issued to mark the 35th anniversary of Turkmenistan's independence, 1,054 citizens are released from the remainder of their primary sentences of imprisonment, as well as from any additional penalties requiring them to reside in a specific locality.
The decision was announced on Friday, September 25, at a joint meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers and the State Security Council. The Head of State instructed law enforcement officials to carry out all necessary measures to ensure the prompt release of the pardoned citizens from detention, enabling them to return to their families soon and celebrate the country's major holiday with their loved ones.
Addressing the pardoned citizens, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov expressed the hope that they would redeem themselves through honest labor, serve their homeland faithfully, and contribute to the country's prosperity.
