Hindi Day Has Been Celebrated in Ashgabat, Strengthening Humanitarian Ties Between Turkmenistan and India
Today, September 14, a ceremonial evening dedicated to Hindi Day was held at the Embassy of India in Ashgabat. The festive program opened with a screening of the video “India Unravelled,” followed by a rich cultural program for the guests.
Welcoming remarks were delivered by Ambassador of India Bandaru Wilsonbabu and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Mahri Bashimova.
The head of the Indian diplomatic mission noted that Hindi is one of the most widely spoken languages in the world, with more than 600 million speakers. He emphasized that more than 40 students study Hindi at the D. Azadi Turkmen National Institute of World Languages, some of whom have already completed language internships at the Kendriya Hindi Sansthan Institute in Agra.
The Deputy Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan conveyed greetings on behalf of Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers and Minister of Foreign Affairs Rashid Meredov. In her remarks, she emphasized the high level of strategic partnership and the importance of cultural exchange.
The festive program featured yoga demonstrations, readings of Hindi poetry, and musical performances by local artists. A highlight of the evening was a performance of a classical Indian dance.
The event concluded with an award ceremony for the winners of a drawing competition. The first three places were won by Alypalwan Khudayberenov, Jahan Khanova, and Ayna Owezova, respectively.
