The Embassy of Turkmenistan in Belarus Held Briefing for the Diplomatic Corps
Preparations for a significant milestone in the country's modern history—the 35th anniversary of Turkmenistan's independence—as well as key aspects of the upcoming meeting of the Khalk Maslakhaty, were the main topics of a briefing held at the Embassy of Turkmenistan in the Republic of Belarus on September 9. The gathering in Minsk brought together heads of diplomatic missions, representatives of the CIS Executive Committee, officials from the Belarusian Foreign Ministry, and Turkmen students studying at universities in Belarus.
Addressing the briefing participants, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Turkmenistan, Nazarguly Shagulyyev, emphasized that the approaching independence anniversary symbolizes the steadfastness of sovereignty, national unity, and the continuity of the strategic course established by the National Leader of the Turkmen people and consistently implemented by the President of Turkmenistan.
The diplomatic corps has focused particular attention on the upcoming session of the People's Council (Khalk Maslakhaty) of Turkmenistan, scheduled for September 23, 2026, at the "Maslahat Köşgi" Palace in Ashgabat. This forum of the supreme representative body—bringing together respected elders, deputies, and delegates from across the country—is intended to define long-term trajectories for socio-economic development and strategic programs for state-building.
The diplomat noted that Turkmenistan’s well-calibrated domestic policy aligns harmoniously with its active role on the international stage. Its status of permanent neutrality enables Ashgabat to act as a reliable and responsible partner committed to strengthening global security, fostering a culture of trusting dialogue, and expanding multilateral cooperation, including within the framework of the CIS.
The briefing was visually complemented by a special video showcasing the country's modern achievements, as well as a thematic photo exhibition set up in the embassy’s winter garden. Guests of the diplomatic mission viewed unique examples of decorative and applied arts—including renowned handcrafted carpets, jewelry, national costumes, and rare artifacts—that reflect the profound historical and cultural heritage of the Turkmen people, which serves as the fundamental basis for a modern policy of humanism and openness to the world.
