Artists from the Turkic World Create a Joint Art Collection in the Valleys of Cappadocia
The International Meeting of Artists from the Turkic World is taking place in the Turkish province of Nevsehir, bringing together fine artists from Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Azerbaijan, and Turkey from August 22 to 30. The project, entitled "A Common Canvas of the Turkic World: Cappadocia," is organized under the auspices of the Nevsehir Governorate with the support of TURKSOY, local municipalities, and leading universities in the region.
For a week, participants worked en plein air among otherworldly landscapes, ancient rock formations, and historic valleys. Representatives of a renowned creative dynasty from Lebap, ceramicist Dilbar Umarova and designer Jeyran Umarova, are representing Turkmenistan at the meeting. The result of this joint work is a series of unique paintings and works of decorative and applied art, in which the ancient history of Cappadocia is intertwined with the national traditions of the Turkic peoples.
The works created during the workshops will be included in the region's cultural collections, forming a long-lasting artistic legacy for future generations. The meeting will conclude with a final exhibition, which will open to the public on Saturday, August 29, at the observation deck near the Monument of Turkic Unity on Mount Kahveci.
