Guiyang data expo
On Friday, the China International Big Data Industry Expo 2026 will open in Guiyang, the capital of Guizhou Province in southwest China. According to the National Data Administration, the organiser of the expo, all preparations for the three day event have been completed.
The expo will showcase cutting edge achievements in five sections: computing infrastructure, data provision, model based development, data security and intelligent user experience. There will also be pavilions for honorary guests from various provinces, a digital and intelligent integration zone for culture, sports, tourism and commerce, an international data exchange zone and a new embodied artificial intelligence demonstration zone.
"The China International Big Data Industry Expo 2026 focuses on the supporting role of tokens in realising the value of data elements. So far, more than 16,000 guests have registered, and 372 domestic and foreign companies have confirmed their participation. We will also hold 89 events, including matchmaking activities between suppliers and market participants, and present 87 important achievements," said Zhang Yan, a representative of the National Data Administration. During the event, the administration will also release a set of industry standards and best practice compendiums.
China's intelligent computing capacity has reached 2.4 million petaFLOPS, with eight national computing centres accounting for more than 80 per cent of the total. As of June, more than 120,000 high quality datasets with a total volume of over 1,565 petabytes had been created in China.
The Big Data Expo in Guiyang is held annually and is one of the most significant events of its kind in China. Guiyang, located in a mountainous region, has become one of the national data processing centres due to its mild climate and stable energy supply. In recent years, China has been actively developing its digital economy, and the expo serves as a platform to showcase the latest advances in artificial intelligence, cloud computing and data security. The participation of 372 companies from China and abroad confirms the growing international interest in China's data industry.

The achievements and industry standards presented will set the direction for the development of China's digital economy in the coming years.
